MATHEMATICS

Posted under Blog by admin on Tuesday 26 February 2008 at 2:07 pm

I remember a while ago, when I was in grade school, that I had some of the most interesting teachers. Not interesting in the “I love my math class” kind of way, but in their characteristics. I remember one of my math teachers in the eighth grade, who had a receding hairline and could have used a women’s hair loss program of some sort, used to play board games and bring the candy of the winner’s choice for them the next day. One day my team won, two of my friends and me, but she did bring the candy the day after, nor the day after that. She actually never brought the candy at all. All through high school and even now when I see her I ask her about it, it is our inside joke. I remember another time I saw my seventh grade English teacher in Walgreen’s. She was one of those teachers legends were made of, the ones your older brother and sisters warn you about because she was really mean and really tall (although I guess most adults are tall when you are twelve). I was looking at some magazines waiting for my mom to finish in line when she leans over and says, “Are you lost little boy?” Scared me to death, but I turn around and she has a smile on her face I had never seen before. I remember thinking that she wasn’t that bad from that point.

ARDUOUS PROCESS

Posted under Blog by admin on Tuesday 26 February 2008 at 10:54 am

My next door neighbor’s house was broken into last night, that’s the fourth house this month. It’s gotten to the point that a lot of families in the area are starting to put up “for sale” signs and as disappointing as it sounds, the town that I grew up in and chose to raise my own family in isn’t getting any better. In light of all this, I’ve decided to begin the arduous process of choosing a home security company. When I was a kid we didn’t have to worry about locking the door at all, not even at night when we were in bed, but now as soon as I get inside I lock the deadbolt and put on the chain like our house is smack dab in the middle of an urban war zone. I’m not quite to the point where I want to move, but the condition of the town does seem to be pushing me in that direction. For now, I just want to make sure that my home and my family are safe and I think that advertising the fact that I have a home security system will do the trick for the time being.

RESEARCHING ALTITUDES

Posted under Blog by admin on Thursday 21 February 2008 at 3:49 pm

Is there a difference in getting Lasik surgery done on different states? For example, is there a difference between getting Lasik in Colorado as opposed to Lasik in, say, Kansas? Would the high altitudes affect the conditions of getting Lasik in Colorado? Or do I even know what I’m talking about? I guess the price might be different, but the price might be different depending on which eye surgeons you go to and the severity of your vision problems. I’ll be honest with myself. I don’t really care. I don’t have any vision problems and I haven’t even seen an eye doctor in 5 or 6 years. I just have this paper due in a 2 days that’s supposed to be 2,000 words about the advances of medicine and I drew the topic of eye surgery. My teacher strongly hinted that researching Lasik would be a good start. And this is an English Composition class. Why am I writing about eye surgery and eye problems and Lasik in Colorado? Really, I’m just trying to think of things to write about that will fill more pages. I researched Lasik and eye surgery and all that, but only came up to 7 pages. I’ve got 3 more to fill and I need it done now.

SAFEGUARDING

Accidents occurring due to the automobiles on the roads are very common. Thus, to safeguard the rights and protect the interest of both the parties involved in the accident there are strict laws. Thus the Auto Accident Attorneys play a very significant role during the process of legal trial after the accident. There are several legal firms as well as attorneys doing the round in the market in order to resolve dispute arising after the accident. Apart from compensation from the party causing the damage the insurance money is also required to be claimed. Thus the attorneys also help to acquire this money. Making choice of the legal expert for this cause can be at times a difficult task. There are several attorneys available among whom the best choice has to be made. Generally the past performance of the legal firm has to be the primary criteria while making the choice. The Auto Accident Attorneys also seek compensation from the abusive debt collectors. They put forward very aggressive arguments in such cases. The attorneys of the auto accident cases generally conduct a thorough research of the case and put forward the case in a very effective manner before the judiciary.

SKIPPING EXERCISE

Posted under Blog by admin on Friday 8 February 2008 at 2:42 pm

You want fast and accurate results every time you test your blood sugar levels. You never want to decide to skip an exercise session because of a faulty reading on your glucose monitor. You also never want to be unable to read the results. The inaccuracies won’t be doing you a bit of good and can actually give you a false sense of security. This won’t happen if you use the Ascensia Elite as it has a screen, which is easy to read, and it is very accurate. Your medications and therapies prescribed by your physician are based off this number, and it can be the ultimate devil if you are obtaining incorrect information. You can choose which units you will ultimately use, but the defining decision maker should simply be that you always check you sugar and never make excuses to not take it due to being uncomfortable or a bother. This is why I recommend the Ascensia Elite. It has two different kinds of testing strips, which fit into the unit. Most others only have one type to use. Those strips can be hard to manage due to the care, which must be in place when handling the strips to prevent cross contamination. The two different strips, which you can use on this unit, are called the Microfill and Autodisk. The Microfill strips are easier to handle and will resist being cross contaminated, while the Autodisk active testing strips are designed to sip your blood in very small amounts to gain an accurate reading. The choice is totally up to you to decide which would work better for you. These products are some of the best in the current market for diabetic supplies due to the reduction in pain from these testing strips.

THRIFY MOM

My mother always used to be extremely good at finding discounts and sales. If there were a gold medal for it in the Olympics, she’d have gotten a bright, shiny new one every year. I need a cheap closet organizer since everything’s been spilling out of my overpacked closet for the past month, but my mother has been gone for 3 years now, may she rest in peace. Where does that leave me you might wonder? Well, it leaves me searching through all the local malls and even driving out to outlet stores looking for the best cheap closet organizer I can find. My mother always told me to look through the newspapers and get all the coupons I can, but there’s never any coupons for something like a cheap closet organizer. Somehow, some way, my mother would have found one, I’m absolutely certain. But I’m not her and I should have spent more time listening and paying attention to her. Then I might not be so lost in finding this thing. But that’s how things are. You never really know what you have until it’s gone. Not that I didn’t love and appreciate my mother when she was around. I did. I just wish I had learned more from her.

REFERENCES TO LANGUAGES

Posted under Blog by admin on Thursday 29 November 2007 at 1:59 pm

What if we taught all children of all countries sign language and then in the future they could use gestures to help ease the problems of interpretations in our languages. Teaching sign language to babies has become not just "the thing to do" but rather has come to the forefront of the beginning of us, as parents taking the lead in educating our children from their earliest days. From all the studies conducted in this field the benefits of introducing your baby to sign language are vast.

There are other benefits to introducing baby sign language - studies indicate that children who sign often develop a higher than average IQ. So baby sign language has two advantages - it helps your baby develop communication skills, and it also helps improve your parenting. Today, this trend is growing while parents discover the skills of baby sign language from various programs and classes offered in their communities.

It doesn't take an expert to tell parents who use baby sign language in communicating with their child, that now they can understand why their baby is crying, respond to a specific need, and overcome the baby's frustration. Teaching your baby sign language is an easy, fun and exciting way to begin communicating with your newest little member of the family. When teaching baby sign language, it is important to relate the word to the current situation or feeling of the moment.

Every parent has the ability to teach his or her baby sign language. By introducing baby sign language into your home, you are enhancing the bond with your baby. Children are also shown to be more socially outgoing when they've been taught sign language as a baby or toddler.

Babies, toddlers and children have been shown to have a much easier time with speech and communication abilities when they have been taught sign language at an early age. Babies can be taught sign language from any age, but they really begin to take notice of the signs from around six months and may begin using them from as early as seven to eight months of age. Laura Dyer, Speech Pathologist, in her book "Look Who's Talking: How To Enhance Your Child’s Language Development Starting At Birth", states that typically developing children ages 8 to 22 months benefit from learning sign language because these children can use signs to represent words that are too difficult for them to say.

One such piece of free valuable information: 20 years of painstaking research has proven that children who use sign language have enhanced language, mental, social and emotional development, as compared to children who do not. Research has shown that babies who sign have faster rate in their development of speech and language skills, increased intellectual skills and higher self-esteem. My Mommy is delighted that my older siblings are interested in using sign language.

My older siblings find sign language fun too. What if we taught them the basics of sign language it would certainly help in our culture too. Personally and professionally I recommend using American Sign Language because ASL is the third most used language in the United States. Baby sign language is a new form of communication, combining hand gestures with word association.

For example: Most babies learn to wave good-bye to visitors at a very early age because it’s a visual command that we teach them. And why not, we have many tools for computer users to allow for maximum accessibility and why not go to the next step? They do the standard checks, like feeling the diaper for wetness or putting their hand on the baby's head to check for fever.

Think of what it could mean for the world too. There are some other great websites that will help you get started.
